For some students, physical education classes are their only source of activity. At PPA Covered, we want to ensure that they spend this time receiving the highest quality lesson plans. With the rise of obesity, it is important for children to be both aware of the issue and active in ways to personally prevent the condition. PPA Covered provides an environment for children to develop foundational principles of hard-work and commitment, while also achieving academic success. All of our lessons align with the National Curriculum and are tailored to meet each student’s needs.
Physical education is the perfect setting to strengthen students’ confidence, decision-making skills, and leadership qualities at a young age. We create sessions that boost their self-esteem in the way that they look and their abilities in sports. Students can also practice their leadership skills during team games and group activities. Also, their personal and group decision-making skills will also be strengthened as they learn to work together to succeed.
PPA Covered promotes fun physical activity, but we also want our students to be safe and healthy. Our staff will educate the children in all aspects of PE. They will learn the appropriate way to dress such as wearing sneakers, helmets, and other athletic gear when necessary. Students will develop a spatial awareness and recognize the distance they need to have between each other so that they can play safely.
Sportsmanship plays a huge role in PE, and students will learn how to be a “good sport” no matter the scenario. Game rules and class etiquette will be taught to ensure that students play safely and fairly.
We also encourage students to be healthy. In addition to activity, we help students learn proper nutrition as well. Students will understand the importance of a nutritious diet and stay hydrated. Each lesson includes a warm-up for the activity. Our dedicated staff will show the students what parts of their bodies they are warming up and why it is important to prevent injuries.
All of our lessons are flexible with both indoor and outdoor sessions offered based on the weather. Each class has an option so that students can both explore new activities and find their strengths. In one day students can choose between different games, gymnastics, and dances so that each class is different. Overall, we offer a range of various sports including, badminton, baseball, basketball, capture the flag, cricket, dodgeball, football, golf, handball, hockey, kickball, netball, rugby, jump rope, ping pong, tag, team games, tennis, and volleyball.
Students will engage in many different units throughout the year. The first unit focuses on basic motor skills, where the children get their footing in safety, awareness, running, throwing, and catching. This unit will improve their bodily awareness and equipment control. It will also provide them a chance to recognize their skills and interests. Aside from physical activity, the students will also talk about how their bodies react and what they feel like during different actions. This unit builds a solid foundation for the rest of the school year and children when they play sports independently.
